Auction Proceeds Help Clean Up

If you have been to the Great Escape, you know about our Auction.  The proceeds from the auction are used to benefit Camp Wabasso and sometimes our other camps.  And you've probably met Nurse Donna, who acts as our Great Escape first aider.  You might not know that Donna also spends summers at Wabasso taking care of Girl Scouts younger than we tend to be - as Camp Nurse.  So when we start talking about what Camp needs, Donna often has some good insight to offer.

Donna, Pat, Paula, Betsy

In a camp full of young kids away from home, some for the first time, it's inevitable that there will be tummy troubles and accidents that result in sleeping bags needing to be washed.  That meant a counselor having to leave camp for a couple of hours to go to a laundromat with commercial washers and dryers large enough to handle a sleeping bag!

Thanks to the Great Escape Auction, there's now a washer and dryer on camp that will do the job.

Note the suds at the bottom of the washer door - it's tested and ready to go! As always, thanks to our great Wabasso caretaker Bruce for making it happen. Now all we need is for summer to come.

The story of the other donations you've helped make to camp and to the Movement are here.  Thanks for making and bringing great baskets and other donations, and for bidding high!

  5. My daughter was a counselor at Wabasso last summer and I bet the staff will also be happy for a chance to wash their own sleeping bags.
